Matt Damon’s $225 Million Sports Movie To Be Removed From Netflix Soon

A sports biopic headlined by Christian Bale is leaving Netflix soon, giving subscribers only a limited time to catch it. Also featuring Matt Damon, the film enjoyed huge critical and commercial success upon its release. It also bagged numerous accolades and award nominations, including Best Film Editing and Best Sound Editing at the 92nd Oscars and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for Bale.

Ford v Ferrari leaves Netflix in April

Ford v Ferrari is leaving Netflix’s catalog on April 1, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix). Its departure likely stems from constantly changing licensing agreements, necessitating the streamer’s efforts to frequently update its library. But subscribers have ample time, 27 days, to stream the film before its departure.

The film hit theaters across the United States on November 15, 2019. Following its release, Ford v. Ferrari, made on a budget of $97.6 million, grossed $225.5 million at the global box office (via Box Office Mojo).

The story follows a group of engineers and designers led by American automotive designer Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and English race car driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale). Hired by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca, the team builds a revolutionary race car to defeat the dominant Italian racing team, Scuderia Ferrari, at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Ford v Ferrari boasts impressive scores on review aggregator websites. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a certified fresh critical score of 92% and a verified hot audience score of 98%. Meanwhile, Metacritic has given the film a Metascore of 81 and a user score of 8.3 — both denoting “Universal Acclaim.”

James Mangold, known for directing films like 3:10 to Yuma and Logan, helmed the film, marking his second collaboration with Bale, who appeared in the former film. Meanwhile, the Butterworth brothers, Jez and John-Henry, and Jason Keller, co-wrote the screenplay.

In addition to Bale and Damon, Ford v Ferrari features Jon Bernthal, Caitríona Balfe, Josh Lucas, Noah Jupe, Tracy Letts, and Corrado Invernizzi, among others.
