Alan Cumming recalls Paul McCartney crashing his karaoke night with Emma Stone
Alan Cumming remembered the entry of a music legend at his karaoke night with Emma Stone. The Good Wife star told First We Feast, “Once, Emma Stone called me up. I had been in this film with her about Billie Jean King.” Cumming continued, “She played Billie Jean King, and she and Billie Jean were at Paul McCartney’s concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and were gonna come over for a nightcap, cause Billie Jean King had never been.”
The 61-year-old also shared how he gave instructions to the patrons at his club that the celebrities were arriving. “Hey, everybody, Billie Jean King and Emma Stone are coming. Be cool,” he said. Cumming further added, “Five minutes later, she calls me back and she goes, ‘HOLY F***ING S**T!, Paul McCartney wants to come TOO!” The BAFTA award-winner added, “They had gone backstage to see him,” and he asked them where they were heading. Stone and King informed him about the club plans, and McCartney wished to join them.
“So, three black SUVs arrive to our tiny little club,” Cumming shared. He continued, “It’s like a joke: Paul McCartney, Emma Stone, and Billie Jean King walk into a bar.” The Scottish actor recalled, “It was one of the nights where people get up and have a sing, and there’s a guy playing the piano.” He added, “Would you like to sing a song?’ And he went, ‘No! I just spent three hours singing at the Barclays Center.'”
Cumming continued, “And I was like, ‘Alright, that was a yes or no question.’ And then he must have felt bad, cause he said, ‘But I’d accompany you, if you’d like, Alan.” He said how he and Stone sang The Little Mermaid’s “Part of Your World,” and McCartney joined them with his harmonica, wittily adding, “Dreams do come true.”
