Hollywood tough guys usually keep their fights on camera, but Chris Hemsworth is hinting at something more real. The Marvel star recently stirred buzz by admitting he has seriously considered stepping into an MMA cage. While nothing is official, his candid comments and the internet’s reaction have suddenly put the idea of Hemsworth fighting on the radar.
Chris Hemsworth wants to be part of an MMA fight
The chatter picked up steam because the fight world was already on fire over the announced showdown between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, a bout being promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. Right in the middle of that hype wave, Chris Hemsworth casually dropping the comment that he has considered stepping into a real fight, instantly perking up the internet.
During an appearance on Complex’s Family Style Fortune Cookies, Hemsworth said part of him genuinely wants to try it, noting he has “trained a lot”. Still, he kept the tone light, joking that his practice sessions have always stayed safely “in the realm of not killing each other.”
The star quipped that if he ever went full send into an actual bout, he could easily end up flat on his back, seeing stars. “And I’d love to just, one day, go, ‘Right, what have I gotten here?’ And I’ll probably end up flat on my back, starry eyes,” the Marvel star said.
Fans online wasted no time playing matchmaker. Some pitched a crossover fight under Jake Paul’s promotion, while others jokingly imagined him squaring up with fellow Marvel alum Chris Evans. Still, not everyone was buying the hype. Skeptics noted there’s a big gap between looking fight-ready on screen and handling the real grind of pro MMA, especially in your 40s.
When Halle Berry asked him to name a dream opponent, Hemsworth kept the mood playful. He joked he’d pick “someone who retired a long time ago” so he could win with a smart strategy. Hemsworth also gave major respect to Georges St-Pierre as one of the all-time greats and also a shout-out to Australian star Alexander Volkanovski as a personal favorite.
Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry lead the cast of Crime 101, which is now playing in theaters.
