The highly anticipated Super Bowl ad from Amazon has dropped, and it’s a total game-shifter. Chris Hemsworth is back on screen, this time taking on a formidable foe – the malicious version of the virtual assistant, Alexa+. The hilarious ad showcases Hemsworth’s signature charm and wit as he explores the possibilities of AI gone rogue.

Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky star in Amazon’s new Alexa+ commercial

Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, are set to bring the laughs in Amazon’s latest Alexa+ commercial.

Premiering during the third quarter of Super Bowl LX on February 8, the ad shows Chris Hemsworth returning home holding a snake with one hand and witnessing Elsa Pataky’s cozy chat with the new Alexa+. However, his imagination quickly runs wild, conjuring up a string of absurd possibilities where Alexa+ seems determined to make his life a living hell.

The ad showcases Chris Hemsworth imagining worst-case scenarios where Alexa+ tries to kill him. While one instance shows the garage door closing on him, the other shows the virtual assistant deliberately closing the pool cover while the Thor star is enjoying a swim. Yet another scenario shows Hemsworth getting mauled by a bear summoned by Alexa+. In the last outcome, the Extraction actor dies in a blast when the AI assistant lights a “fire”.

However, his wife Pataky remains calm and trusts Alexa+, highlighting its usefulness in everyday tasks like meal planning and scheduling. In the happy ending, Hemsworth finally embraces Alexa+, as the AI proves itself to be a helpful sidekick in disguise.

In a clever twist, the commercial showcases the capabilities of Amazon’s Alexa+, highlighting its usefulness in simplifying everyday tasks and making life more convenient. However, the rogue Alexa+ takes this to an extreme, demonstrating the potential risks of relying too heavily on AI.

The production values are top-notch, with impressive visuals and a spot-on comedic tone. Additionally, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky’s engaging performance makes the ad a delight to watch.

Alexa+ is now available in the US, free for Prime members and $19.99/month for non-Prime members.
