Colin Jost speaks about Olympics’ crotchgate scandal
Colin Jost is currently covering the 2026 Winter Olympic Games for NBC from Lake Placid, New York. During his segment with Mike Tirico, the comedian made a lighthearted joke about a rumored scandal dubbed “Crotchgate.”
“I’ve been following Crotchgate very closely,” Jost said. “I’ve had my eye on all of the crotches, and I wanted to really get myself in the mindset” (via Entertainment Weekly).
Crotchgate refers to a recent scandal at the 2026 Winter Olympics, where ski jumpers are allegedly injecting hyaluronic acid into their genitals to inflate them. This allows them to increase the suit’s surface area, improving aerodynamics for longer jumps.
When the camera zoomed out on Jost, the comedian was seen in a jumpsuit with his crotch blurred out. “I’ve been injecting, I’d say, maybe too much hyaluronic acid. Scarlett’s excited,” he joked.
He further added that he’s going to test if he can break “all kinds of records,” and that he might be able to “jump all the way to Italy with this thing.” He concluded, “Watch out, Olympians. I’m coming for you.”
The allegations stem from a report by the German news outlet Bild earlier this month. Since then, the news has caught the internet’s attention and was immediately dubbed Crotchgate. Subsequently, the World Anti-Doping Agency issued a statement about investigating the rumors, per The Guardian. The organization’s president said, “Ski jumping is very popular in Poland [Banka’s home country], so I promise you I’m going to look at it.”
The 2026 Winter Olympics, known as Milano Cortina 2026, are underway in Italy. The Games are taking place across Lombardy and Northeast Italy, and will run from February 6 to 22, 2026. Although a few events began on February 4, 2026.
