Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Suspect Can Be Linked to These Items, Says Ex-NYPD

As the Nancy Guthrie disappearance and potential kidnapping case moves into a third week, a retired NYPD lieutenant says there may be physical evidence for a possible suspect. Investigators still have not found Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mom or announced an arrest. But Ret. NYPD Lt. Dr. Darrin Porcher says the case has physical clues that could lead to a name associated with it.

‘This is multifaceted’: Retired NYPD lieutenant breaks down new leads in Nancy Guthrie search

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance became national news right after a potential kidnapping angle dominated the headlines — and now, a retired NYPD lieutenant famously mentioned a potential piece of evidence and a suspect in the case.

Guthrie went missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson on February 1. Authorities have pointed to evidence that suggests someone took her during the early morning hours. Since then, law enforcement has worked through surveillance video, forensic testing, and a list of recovered items.

On Fox News’ Fox Report, Ret. NYPD Lt. Dr. Darrin Porcher said investigators can use three key pieces to narrow the search. In that, he said, “One, we have potential DNA from the perpetrator that’s going to be processed through the CODIS database,” calling it “quite telling as it relates to identity.”

Moreover, Porcher pointed out, “We’ve extracted a holster, a Strategy brand holster that was purchased for $11 from Walmart.” He also flagged an “Ozark Trail backpack” seen in connection with the suspect.

The ex-NYPD official then explained, “If you do a cash purchase at Walmart, they will still store that item being sold in cash,” highlighting, “So you can always go back to the video and see when this cash purchase occurred at Walmart as it relates to the two items.”

Additionally, he suggested that video evidence could still help even if the suspect got rid of clothing or gear. Porcher said, “What it does is it produces an image,” adding, “This is multifaceted.”

Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb also urged patience with the forensic process, reminding viewers, “DNA is not like a TV show where you get the results within no time.”
