Bill Maher recently reflected on his feud with Jimmy Kimmel, acknowledging that he’s aware Kimmel is upset with him. Maher said that, since Adam Carolla is close to Kimmel, he asked him to convey an apology on his behalf. While he doesn’t admit to having done anything wrong, he recognizes that disagreements happen. He feels that people can clash over opinions yet remain on good terms. After sharing his thoughts on the right and left groups, he expressed appreciation for Kimmel. He admitted feeling guilty that, because of the feud, they might never speak again.
Bill Maher talks about Jimmy Kimmel feud
During a recent conversation on the Club Random podcast, Maher told Carolla that he’s aware Kimmel is upset with him and that he wants to apologize for the things that went wrong between them. He said, “Jimmy Kimmel, you know, he’s very mad at me, and I know you’re close to him. I hope you tell him that I’m sorry that it got bent out of shape.”
While he doesn’t think he has done anything wrong, he admits that disagreements happen. “I don’t think I did anything wrong. We can have disagreements. I mean, you and I don’t agree on everything, look at this clash now, and yet we’re cool,” he elaborated.
Reflecting on how he operates in the comedic scene amid the evolving political environment, he added, “My tribe is supposed to be the left, but these are the people who just can’t talk to you unless you’re exactly there, whereas the Republicans, they always … come to my show. I don’t just buy into the left-wing (nonsense), and I never stop making fun of the right-wing (nonsense) at all.” He called Kimmel a “great guy” and revealed that it bothers him that, due to their latest feud, they might never speak again.
Although Maher didn’t share details on the disagreements caused, the feud likely dates to a time when he mocked Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney. In “We Can Do Hard Things” podcast, McNearney revealed that she had cut ties with some family members over their support for Donald Trump. In response to her comments, Maher mocked her for ruining relationships over politics.
