Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone appear in The Housemaid deleted scene

The newly released The Housemaid deleted scene, shared on February 3, shows the chemistry between Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone. This “never-before-seen sequence” offers a deeper look into their characters’ dynamic, which will undoubtedly be explored further in the sequel. For fans, it’s a thrilling teaser of what’s to come.

The decision to delete a scene is never easy. However, The Housemaid director Paul Feig explained the logic behind this particular cut. “When you’re putting a movie together, and you’re doing your test screenings, you find out there’s certain moments when people want to be with one character and people want to be with other characters,” he told People. “That was the only scene we had to lose.”

However, Feig always had a future in mind for the footage. He hinted, “But if there’s another [film], it probably will come back in a sequel if that happens, if people go to the movies and make this happen.” Given the film’s massive success, earning over $300 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing film of both Sweeney and Feig’s careers, The Housemaid Part 2 is now full steam ahead. Lionsgate has officially announced that The Housemaid’s Secret will begin production in 2026.

Sweeney herself is eager to return. She told the outlet in December, “I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie.” She praised her character’s spirit, adding, “She’s spicy. She is a fighter… I love seeing movies that have just fully embraced female rage.”

All in all, this The Housemaid deleted scene is more than just bonus content. It’s a narrative bridge for a sequel.
