A familiar and polarizing voice is heading back to The View after more than a decade away. ABC confirmed that a former co-host, known for fiery debates and headline-making clashes, will soon rejoin the daytime talk show in a guest role. The move comes at a tense moment for the panel, following public criticism of the show and one of its longest-serving stars.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is returning to The View as a guest co-host
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is heading back to The View, this time as a guest at the table. The former co-host, who was a regular on the show from 2003 to 2013, will step in as a guest panelist while current conservative voice Alyssa Farah Griffin takes time off for maternity leave ahead of welcoming her first baby. Hasselbeck is part of a rotating lineup of familiar faces filling in during Griffin’s break (via Entertainment Weekly).
Her return is already turning heads, especially since it follows a recent public clash with longtime co-host Joy Behar. Earlier this year, Hasselbeck pushed back against Behar’s remarks about Carrie Underwood performing at Donald Trump’s second inauguration. Taking to social media, Hasselbeck defended the singer, suggesting Behar “needs to simmer down” and later adding that Underwood’s strength was something others could take notes from.
Hasselbeck doubled down on her comments during a recent appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, where she took aim at The View, saying the show had lost its common sense. She also suggested Joy Behar was leaning into the controversy to stay in the spotlight and even claimed the talk show was “sinking.” That said, Behar never actually labeled Carrie Underwood as “un-American,” despite Hasselbeck previously implying that online.
Nevertheless, she congratulated Alyssa Farah Griffin on her pregnancy and shared on an Instagram Story that she was genuinely excited to be back at the table. She said she felt grateful for the invitation and praised the panel as a smart, “intelligent group of women.”
