The Dink sets July release date on Apple TV
Apple Original Films has announced the release date for its new comedy movie, The Dink. The movie will premiere on July 24, 2026.
The film stars Jake Johnson as Dusty Boyd and Mary Steenburgen as Candace, alongside Ed Harris, Andy Roddick, Patton Oswalt, Chloe Fineman, Chris Parnell, Aaron Chen, and Ben Stiller in key roles. Apple TV confirmed the release with the post: “#TheDink. Coming July 24 to Apple TV.”
The Dink follows Dusty Boyd, a former tennis prodigy who now coaches unruly children at his father Chuck’s suburban country club. Dusty supports Chuck’s opposition to the rising popularity of pickleball to gain his father’s approval. When he re-injures himself and can no longer play tennis, Dusty turns to pickleball for rehab.
He begins to enjoy the sport, especially with his new partner, Candace, played by Mary Steenburgen. As Dusty embraces pickleball, he confronts old failures and faces his childhood rival, Andy Roddick. The story leads to a final showdown involving the club’s future, his bond with his father, and his sense of self.
Josh Greenbaum directs the film, known for Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. Ben Stiller and John Lesher produce for Red Hour Films. Rob Paris and Mike Witherill produce for Rivulet Entertainment. Jake Johnson also serves as a producer.
Sean Clements writes the screenplay. Rick Steele, Sean Clements, Josh Greenbaum, Joe Hardesty, Jonathan McCoy, and Daniel Crosser serve as executive producers on the film project.
Apple TV has not yet released a trailer for The Dink, as of now.
