Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence announce they are expecting first child together
On Monday, February 2, Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, the children of comedians Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, respectively, announced that they’re preparing to welcome their first child. They posted the news on Instagram alongside some photos.
In the first photo, the couple poses together, while the remaining two show Jasmin holding and admiring her baby bump. They captioned the post, “Thank you, Jesus, for the greatest gift.”
The couple reportedly started dating back in 2021, when Jasmine posted a photo posing alongside Eric on his birthday. She had captioned it, “Happy birthday, my love! I’m so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side. Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!! “
Three years later, the couple got engaged in a romantic setting on November 27, 2024. They shared the video a few days later, on December 1. They wrote in the caption, “We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”
In contrast to their previous public announcements, the couple actually decided to get married in a very private ceremony. During his appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show in May 2025, the Dr. Dolittle star shared that even he didn’t get to attend their wedding ceremony.
He explained that Eric and Jasmine exchanged their vows in a church with only a preacher to officiate for them. He then joked that Martin didn’t have to pay for a big wedding.
Since their children’s engagement, it has been a running joke between the Coming to America actor and The Boys star about who pays for the wedding when it happens during interviews. But since their kids married in a church, it appears that neither of them had to.
