Michael B. Jordan Was in ‘A Lot of Tears’ After Best Actor Oscar Nod

Michael B. Jordan reveals how he reacted to Best Actor Oscar nomination

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan opened up about his reaction to finding out about his nomination and Sinner’s historic Oscar nods.

“My mom was my first call,” he revealed. “It was great. A lot of tears, and the reason why I’m even in this industry and why I’m acting at all — why that was even an idea. To talk to the woman who started it all first meant the world,” the 38-year-old added.

Jordan also shared his thoughts on Sinners’ record-breaking nominations at the Oscars this year, saying he’s “still digesting it all.” The nominations also include Best Director (Ryan Coogler), Best Supporting Actress (Wunmi Mosaku), and Best Supporting Actor (Delroy Lindo).

Jordan continued, “It’s really a testament to the film as a whole and all the pieces involved and the people that went to go see this movie and watched this film.”

The actor further stated, “It meant something to them, and they felt something — to see how it resonated throughout the year with people, man. For all of these pieces to be singled out, acknowledged, and honored with the nomination. It’s something that’s really hard to put into words right now.”

The 2025 movie, helmed by Ryan Coogler, is a supernatural horror film. It stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles, playing the Smokestack Twins. Other cast members include Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, and more.

This year’s Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 15. Fans can catch it live at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and stream it on Hulu.
