A$AP Rocky has finally opened up about his simmering tension with Drake, putting to rest fan speculation that his latest album, Don’t Be Dumb, was a veiled attack on the superstar rapper.

The Helicopter artist sat down with Ebro Darden for an Apple Music interview on Wednesday, January 21. In the unfiltered conversation, A$AP Rocky spoke about his latest album and, inevitably, his strained ties with Drake. The duo’s bond has taken an unexpected turn, given their past collaborations, including Rocky’s 2012 hit Fuckin’ Problems and their joint tour, Club Paradise, that same year.

During the interview, Rocky compared hip-hop beefs to professional wrestling, implying that much of it is staged for show. However, he emphasized that the tension between him and Drake is a real, underlying issue. However, it’s not overtly dramatic.

“I just don’t ***k with him,” the Harlem rapper explained. “We was once friends. I feel like it’s over females. I feel like he wasn’t happy and he expressed that.” Rocky continued, “And I think at some certain point when everybody getting older and it’s just like you supposed to be moving on, for you to still be picking at a female and all that, that’s soft to me.”

A$AP Rocky says his new album, Don’t Be Dumb, is his first time speaking up about certain people after choosing silence for almost a decade. “I’m talking to whoever feel like I’m talking to ’em,” the 37-year-old explained. “I do think that is petty and like I said, it’s it’s enough money, it’s enough women, it’s enough fame, spotlights to go around. We not really tripping off nothing, but is it real smoke? It could never be.”

A$AP Rocky’s fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, dropped on January 16, 2026.
