US President Donald Trump, who has turned heads multiple times over the past weeks with his various comments on issues relating to Venezuela and Greenland, posted a couple of photos containing direct messages from the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. Trump posted them across multiple social media platforms.
In one of the messages, President Macron can be seen saying to Trump, “My friend, we are completely aligned on Syria. We can do great things in Iran. I don’t understand what you are doing in Greenland.”
Macron further wrote, “I can organise a G7 meeting in Paris on Thursday afternoon after Davos. I can invite the Ukrainians, the Danes, the Syrians, and the Russians on the sidelines.”
Trump sharing the private messages has garnered significant backlash on social media platforms like X and Reddit, with many netizens slamming the move.
On Monday, Donald Trump threatened 200 percent tariffs on French wine over France’s intention to decline an invitation to join his “Board of Peace (via France 24).”
Greenland, an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, has been of vast interest over the past few years. President Donald Trump announced his plans to acquire Greenland after his return to the White House in 2025. Denmark and the EU have firmly rejected any sale or takeover in a bid to maintain Danish sovereignty. Since then, Donald Trump has announced a 10% tariff on Denmark and other participating NATO allies from February 1, 2026.
The upcoming weeks will be crucial in understanding where this ordeal is going to head.
