The iconic house featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is reportedly set to go on the market. According to recent reports, the property comes with a jaw-dropping price tag, which exceeds the entire production budget of the first John Wick movie.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air mansion is set to hit the market
Best known for its recognizable exterior featured throughout the hit 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the home is up for sale at an insane $30 million (via TMZ). For comparison, the first John Wick movie had a budget of $20 million—$10 million less than the house’s asking price.
The sitcom portrayed the house as being in Bel-Air. But it is actually located at 251 N. Bristol Ave., Brentwood, Los Angeles. The majority of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was filmed on soundstages. However, the exterior shots of the mansion became instantly recognizable to viewers, even three decades after the show ended.
As per the Instagram post by The Altman Brothers, the luxury real estate company mediating the sale, the Georgian Colonial estate sits on a massive 38,510 sq ft corner lot. Built in 1937, the house boasts six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, covering 10,000 sq ft of the entire property.
According to the company, this would be the first time in decades that the house has been put up for sale. And despite the sale talks, Netflix is currently using the house for an undisclosed project.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air originally aired on NBC from 1990 to 1996. It featured Will Smith as a fictionalized version of himself. After a basketball mishap, he is sent to live with his wealthy relatives in Bel-Air. The show also featured James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana Ali, and Joseph Marcell, among others, in prominent roles.
