Royal watchers told The Express that Prince Harry’s Invictus Games invitation could put King Charles in a tough spot due to Prince William. Speaking to the tabloid, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained that William is the only major obstacle if he accepts the invite. As per Fitzwilliams, the Prince of Wales would most likely not approve of the situation, especially after years of criticism from Harry toward the royal family.
Moreover, Fitzwilliams stressed that William’s role as future monarch plays a key part in how the king must navigate these decisions. He said, “The future of the monarchy lies with the Waleses and their family,” adding that the brothers “have reportedly not spoken in over three years,” which makes any public show of unity more complicated.
Furthermore, Fitzwilliams noted that Charles wants some kind of reconciliation with his younger son, Harry, and hopes to see his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, again. However, he would not want to act in a way that William “strongly opposed.”
