Amanda Seyfried recalls her daughter Nina’s reaction after watching Mean Girls
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Amanda Seyfried revealed that her 8-year-old daughter, Nina, has watched Mean Girls.
The actress explained that she does not always decide which of her movies her children see first. “I didn’t have any control over Mamma Mia. My daughter saw it years ago with my mom … It’s just, it’s the movie. There’s no ifs, ands, or buts. They play ABBA as I’m coming out, and I’m like, ‘I love it.”
Seyfried further disclosed that she looked forward to the day Nina would watch Mean Girls. “I think I was most excited about Mean Girls,” she said. That moment happened during a work trip to Switzerland, alongside director Mona Fastvold and her 11-year-old daughter, Ada, who was surprised to learn that Nina hadn’t seen the movie yet.
As Nina watched the movie, Seyfried felt confident it was the right time. “This is exactly right. This is artful, this is smart, and maybe a little over her head, but what she’s gonna take from it is humor,” The Testament of Ann Lee actress thought.
“And she can see me in it, and she can appreciate it because everybody else, and Ada, appreciate it,” she added, further saying, “It was very cool.”
While Nina enjoyed Mean Girls, she explained that her daughter isn’t fully obsessed with it yet, stating, “When she’s like 10, she’s gonna be like, ‘This is badass, Mom.’ But right now, she’s like, ‘Yeah, it’s really funny.” However, Nina is already a big fan of Seyfried’s role as Sophie in the Mamma Mia movies.
In the end, the moment became less about introducing a famous movie and more about sharing a meaningful experience.
Notably, Seyfried shares Nina and a younger son with her husband, Thomas Sadoski.
