Fans react to Patrick Mahomes’ new post after Chiefs’ season finale

Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ Instagram update post the team’s disappointing season finale has got fans talking. The 30-year-old shared two candid pictures from the field. In the first long-shot snap, Mahomes can be seen walking away, dejected, as the background turns dark. In the second photo, he is snapped mid-air in the middle of a match, as spectators watch him in action.

For those unversed, the 30-year-old took a bad hit in the final two minutes of the December 14 game against the LA Chargers and hurt his left knee. He underwent an MRI, and the team confirmed that he tore his ACL. He ended up missing the remaining season, resulting in a disappointing loss. The Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and ended the season with a heartbreaking 6-11 record.

It appears the two contrasting photos indicate his intention of returning for the next NFL season with renewed enthusiasm.

Fans are convinced that the clock emoji signifies that Mahomes wants to convey that it is only a matter of time. One fan commented, “Biggest comeback of all-time, book it!” “God speed, brother. I know you will come back stronger and better, though the journey is challenging and frustrating. Will all be part of your incredible legacy!” a second fan wrote.

“IN MAHOMES WE TRUST,” a third fan penned in caps and accompanied by a fire emoji. Finally, one fan declared, “Comeback loading.”

Chiefs’ official Instagram page commented with the same clock emoji and added a red heart emoticon as well. The 30-year-old quarterback’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, left three red heart emojis. She also reposted the carousel on her own Instagram Stories. Brittany penned, “My Guy,” accompanied by another red heart emoji on her Instagram stories (via PEOPLE).
