Josh Charles reveals why he called Travis Kelce a ‘d***’

Josh Charles recalled his encounter with Travis Kelce and why he called him a “d***” during the shoot of “Fortnight.” The conversation on Kelce started after Fallon remarked, “You know what, I forgot to congratulate you because you are a VMA winner.” Charles smiled and replied, “I know, I was expecting that. Thank you,” as the studio audience clapped and cheered for him.

Once the applause died down, Fallon continued, “You were in Swift’s Fortnight video and you got your own Moon Man.” The “Best Medicine” star replied, “I got a Moon Man. It was pretty cool.”

Charles continued, “I did an interview recently and they were like, ‘Well, was that something you ever wanted?’ I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? The Video Music Awards, when I grew up, was the thing. I love the Video Music Awards. The idea that that came just speaks to what an incredibly generous, awesome person Taylor Swift is.’”

Furthermore, Fallon asked, “I saw Ethan Hawke do an interview. He (Hawke) said in some interview that you got in a fight with Travis Kelce on set.” Charles interjected, “No, he exaggerated this. I saw the interview you are talking about. No, it wasn’t a fight. I have always liked Travis Kelce. I just thought he was so cool. But that year, that they beat us (Ravens) in the AFC Championship game, he was a real jerk that year.”

“And so I kind of fell off of him,” the 54-year-old actor continued. He added, “So when I met him, I said, ‘You know I have always liked you, and this year you were kind of a “d***.”

Fallon looked shell-shocked and exclaimed, “You said that to Travis Kelce?” The actor confirmed, “I did. I said, ‘What was up with that?’ He laughed and was like, ‘You know what? You are right.’”

According to Charles, Kelce confessed to him that the Chiefs were “most worried about that game” at the time. The 54-year-old added, “He’s like, ‘I knew I had to come in with some swagger.’”

Finally, the “Sports Night” star clarified that Kelce was “actually great” and that they “talked all different kinds of football.” “Such a good dude. I really liked him a lot,” Charles shared.
