Timothee Chalamet’s speech at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards just went public. He ended his Best Actor remarks by thanking Kylie Jenner as his partner of three years. The “Dune” star kept their romance low-key until now.
For months, split chatter and privacy rules shaped how the pair showed up. It also came after weeks of awards-season red carpets. Now, however, one expert claims the praise was meant to settle the narrative.
Timothee Chalamet praising Kylie Jenner is a well-thought-out move, claims expert
As per Daily Mail report dated January 6, 2026, psychologist Darren Stanton called it “social proof.” He also called it “relationship validation.” Stanton said they are “sending a very clear and direct message.” He said the relationship is “real, secure and intentional.” Stanton added, “It isn’t just for the cameras.” He said they are in it “for the long haul.”
Stanton also said they chose high-visibility rooms because of the timing. He stated, “Timing is very important and they tend to do this when there’s a lot of press and media present, so they get maximum attention.” Stanton also said Jenner is very media savvy and coached for these press moments. He added the move was “well planned and not off the cuff.”
Meanwhile, relationship psychologist Dr Kathy Nickerson framed them as brands. Nickerson said public figures “are not just people.” She added, “They are also brands.” Nickerson said more visibility signals, stating, “increased visibility becomes a way of saying, ‘Everything is okay.'” It can also be an effort to regain control of the narrative when outside speculation starts.”
That context fits Timothee Chalamet’s thank-you speech for the Kylie Cosmetics founder. The report said he won for the dramedy “Marty Supreme.” He said, “Lastly, I’ll just say, thank you to my partner of three years.” He continued, “Thank you for our foundation. I couldn’t do this without you.” He ended, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Afterwards, the beauty mogul mouthed, “I love you,” and the pair kissed, according to the report.
Still, the report also cited body language expert Judi James. James said the romantic signals looked “one-sided,” and called him a “show-pony.” She suspects the “Dune” star is far less interested than her partner to put efforts, stating, “His hands and his body poses suggest hesitancy here. His fingers lightly touch onto Kylie’s torso while she looks happy to cling.” For now, that onstage praise reads as messaging. If they keep doing it, the message becomes the rollout.
