Andy Reid has addressed Travis Kelce’s potential retirement, stating: “Travis can still play and I’m not questioning that part or any of it.” Reid added, “You’ve got a little bit of time before all that stuff really needs to take place… It’s the same way as last year.” He emphasized that no immediate decision is expected and acknowledged that multiple variables are involved (via DailyMail).

Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 6-11 season, Kelce, 36, is weighing whether to return or retire. After the final game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Kelce said, “I just love this team… I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow, get close to the family and figure things out.” He also noted that the decision may take time: “Either it hits me quick, or I’ve got to take some time.”

Kelce completed his 13th NFL season with 76 receptions, 851 receiving yards, and five touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories. He became the third tight end in NFL history to surpass 13,000 career receiving yards. In Sunday’s game, he had two receptions and was visibly subdued leaving the field.

Asked about whether he achieved what he aimed for in returning this season, Kelce said: “Obviously we didn’t do as well as a team but I feel like I came into the season prepared… The ball just didn’t go our way in a lot of those close games.” He indicated that if he returns, he’ll focus on “making sure I’m available and ready for those moments.”

Kelce said last year’s decision was more straightforward, noting, “I think I knew right away I wanted to give this one a shot.” Reid and the organization are allowing him space and time to come to a decision.
