Jimmy Kimmel has recently won the Best Talk Show at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards. During his acceptance speech, the television host took a jab at US President Donald Trump, amid a sincere show of gratefulness.

“I really didn’t expect this,” Kimmel began his speech at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica on Sunday. He then mentioned several critics by name to thank them personally before addressing the difficult times his show encountered earlier in 2025, when Jimmy Kimmel Live! was taken off the air for six days.

“Thanks to all the writers and actors and producers and union members, many of you who are in this room, who supported us, who really stepped forward for us and reminded us that we do not take free speech for granted in this city or in this country,” Kimmel stated.

The television host ended the speech with a jab at Donald Trump. “And most of all, I wanna thank our president, Donald Jennifer Trump, without whom we would be going home empty-handed tonight,” he said.

“So thank you, Mr. President, for all the many ridiculous things you do each and every day. It’s been a banner couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to get back on the air tomorrow night to talk about them,” Kimmel concluded (via Variety)

Trump has often attacked Kimmel and his show in the past, regularly calling for its cancellation. The television host recently slammed the President for his “hateful and vile” remarks on filmmaker Rob Reiner’s murder.

Meanwhile, Kimmel’s CCA win comes just a month after he signed a one-year extension with Disney’s ABC Network. The deal announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will stay on air through May 2027.
