Apple To Skip iPhone 18 Launch in 2026 — Report

Following the iPhone 17’s launch in September 2025, Apple loyalists are all set to get their hands on the next model, the iPhone 18. However, reports suggest that buyers might have to wait longer than expected as the iPhone 18 might not launch in 2026. Whispers of the tech giant moving away from its traditional annual release cycle have generated buzz online among long-time fans of the highly popular tech company and its iconic line of phones.

Apple might not release iPhone 18 in 2026, according to new report

Much to the surprise of anticipating buyers, a new report suggests that Apple might not be launching the iPhone 18 in 2026. Additionally, rumors are also hinting at the launch of Apple’s first foldable iPhone alongside the base model.

MacRumors has reported that “the company is widely rumored to split its upcoming ‌iPhone‌ releases across two distinct release windows rather than unveiling the entire lineup at once.”

According to the report, Apple is prioritizing high-end models this fall. However, the tech company is giving the standard or budget-friendly ones a raincheck until next year. If the rumors are true, the base iPhone 18 model is expected to launch in spring 2027. It will potentially hit stores alongside the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2.

The iPhone 17 is getting rave reviews as the best phone in the current lineup. Hence, making customers wait six more months for the iPhone 18 comes with risks. Customers may not be up for paying extra for a Pro now or waiting months for the more affordable option. The risk of losing customers to the iPhone 17 is yet another likely possibility. However, Apple’s new move might still pull in some non-annual upgraders. It remains to be seen whether the rumors solidify into a definite release schedule for the company.
