A suspected home intruder, Derek Egan, has reportedly been charged with trespassing. It is after he allegedly broke into Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Kensington Palace property. As reported by The Sun, the man went on to climb over the fence of the royal couple’s residence on two different days, including December 21 and December 23. He was allegedly carrying a heavy rucksack at the time of the break-in. The Met Police Royal and Specialist Protection Command reportedly arrested him twice. The nabbing took place after they rushed to find the man in the palace gardens.

Dai Davies, the former head of the Met Police’s Royal and Specialist Protection branch, reportedly commented on the matter. Per the news outlet, the respected ex-cop said, “The fact he repeated the offending” after he got “bail.” The person continued, “Given the nature of it, gives serious cause for concern.” Davies further explained, “The police must work out what level of danger the Royal Family were in.” The person then added, “And based on the charges, why on Earth he was given bail?”

In the meantime, Dai Davies also said to the news outlet that “Any attempt to get into Kensington Palace needs careful investigation into the motive.” The former cop continued, “Any mental health concerns, and if the person is fixated on a royal.” The person then explained, “If this person wasn’t already on a list, he certainly will be now.” Davies further said, “You never know what someone may do when they attempt to break in.” “There are still a number of royals living at Kensington Palace, so any intrusion is of course concerning,” added the respected ex-cop.
