Former NFL star Rob Gronkowski shares retirement advice for Travis Kelce
As Travis Kelce stands at a crossroads, pondering his future, Rob Gronkowski had some thoughts to share. The legendary TE, who hung up the cleats a few years ago, recently reflected on his experience of being in the same shoes.
Gronkowski, who recently appeared on Good Morning America and also spoke with TMZ, urged Kelce to tune out the noise and listen to his gut. The 36-year-old emphasized that “the answer has to come from within”.
“The only advice that I would give him, because I’ve been in this situation before, is listen to your gut feeling. If you truly love the game of football and you feel like you belong out there on the football field, well then go back. Look at your options, see what’s presented to you on the table and weigh it all out and take your time”, he advised.
Gronkowski initially retired at 29. However, Tom Brady lured him back to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What followed next were two more seasons and another Super Bowl ring.
Having said that, Travis Kelce’s situation is a tricky one. On one hand, he already has an incredible resume – three Super Bowl rings, five appearances in the Super Bowl, and an unforgettable run with Patrick Mahomes that defined the Chiefs dynasty.
However, on the other hand, the 2025 season was a tough one, with the Chiefs finishing 6-10, resulting in the team’s first losing record since 2012. This season also marked the Kansas City Chiefs missing the playoffs for the second time during Kelce’s tenure.
With a noteworthy career spanning over a decade, Kelce’s next move will either be a testament to his unwavering dedication to the game or a new chapter waiting to unfold.
