Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods had more than one reason to celebrate this Christmas, as the two recently got engaged. Although Towns and Woods had known each other for a long time, they did not begin dating until 2020. Five years into their relationship, Towns popped the question that many saw coming.
Karl-Anthony Towns gets engaged to Jordyn Woods
It’s a love story, and Jordyn Woods said, “Yes!” The couple took to Instagram on December 25 to share the news of their engagement via a joint post. The photo carousel included several snaps of the happy couple. In one of the photos, Woods offered a close-up of her dazzling engagement ring, capturing her hand silhouetted against a glowing sunset.
The carousel also featured shots of Towns on one knee, and a picture of two bottles with “Mrs. Towns” engraved on them. The location tagged on the post was Overstory rooftop bar in New York City, suggesting that Towns proposed to his longtime girlfriend there. Woods wore a white furry coat over her white maxi dress. Towns sported a suede jacket with black pants.
The caption for the post read, “Marry Christmas,” followed by a Christmas tree, a red heart, and a ring. Simone Biles commented, “congrats bby.” Meanwhile, Jordyn’s sister Jodie Woods wrote, “BIGGGGGGGGG ROCKSSSSSSSSS.” Chloe Bailey and Kylie Jenner also congratulated the newly engaged couple.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods went Instagram official in September 2020 and have spoken highly of each other in interviews. In an interview with PEOPLE in 2023, Woods revealed the key to their relationship, saying, “Friendship and trust.” She stated that they were really good friends before they began dating, and the pandemic lockdown also gave them time to know each other better.
Woods continued, “So, we’ve been through a lot together. We’ve seen each other at all different ways, times, phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.” She also noted that spending “quality time” together also strengthens their relationship.
