After a video of Ned’s Declassified’s actor Tylor Chase’s video went viral, many have spoken about the former actor’s homeless situation. Quite recently, his co-star, Devon Werkheiser, came forward and said that it is “heartbreaking.”
Devon Werkheiser says Tylor Chase living on the streets is ‘heartbreaking’
Devon Werkheiser, who led Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified, sympathized with his co-star, Tylor Chase’s homelessness (via TMZ). “Tylor was a sensitive, sweet, and kind kid,” the actor said. “It is heartbreaking to see him this way. I haven’t seen Tylor in almost 20 years since the show ended.”
He acknowledged how difficult it could be to help a person with serious mental health issues. “Anyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows it’s an unbelievably challenging situation if they don’t want help,” he continued. “It’s an everyday uphill battle to course correct. It requires a ton of support, and patience, and time.”
However, Werkheiser hoped that Chase would get the much-needed support. He said, “My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track. We all want a happy ending.”
Chase is a former child actor best known for playing Martin Qwerly on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide from 2004 to 2007. However, in September 2025, a TikTok video surfaced showing Chase in worn-out clothes, wandering the streets of California, appearing homeless. The video has since drawn attention from people across the country.
Joseph Mendez Jr., Chase’s father, later revealed that his son has been battling bipolar disorder and schizophrenia (via Daily Mail). He said, “For over a decade, the family has sought treatment options for Tylor, including support for substance use as well as mental health care.
Mendez added, “Approximately four years ago, he received treatment in Georgia. While there was progress for a time, he later chose to discontinue medication and resumed substance use.”
In response to the situation, a GoFundMe page was created to help with his expenses, but his mother requested that it be shut down. Daniel Curtis Lee, who played Simon on the show, arranged for Chase to temporarily stay in a hotel. However, just hours after Lee left, it was reported that Chase had trashed the room (via New York Post).
