According to a new rumor, a fan-favorite Marvel character will reportedly be allying with the X-Men and fighting the Avengers in Avengers: Doomsday. The upcoming MCU film, launching next year, will see multiple heroes go up against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Deadpool rumored to help X-Men fight the Avengers in Doomsday
A new rumor suggests that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and join forces with the X-Men to fight the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.
The rumor comes from a familiar industry insider, MyTimetoShineHello (MTTSH). The scooper wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Deadpool is in Doomsday and help the X-Men fight the Avengers and Fantastic Four.”
As exciting as this may sound, this is only a rumor that should be taken with a grain of salt. Accordingly, fans will have to wait until Marvel Studios reveals official information regarding Deadpool’s potential role in the film.
Although Deadpool’s appearance in Doomsday is unconfirmed as of writing, Ryan Reynolds ignited speculation about the same earlier this year. In August 2025, the Free Guy actor shared a cryptic post on Instagram. The post showed an Avengers logo, over which an Anarchy symbol was drawn. Consequently, the post got fans talking, with many wondering if the actor was teasing his appearance in the event film.
Reynolds cleared speculation about the post the following month. Speaking to Collider, the 49-year-old, who neither confirmed nor denied the post’s connection to Doomsday, said, “The thing I posted on social, that is actually a variant of the flag that we use in Deadpool & Wolverine. It was my favorite.” However, Reynolds said that he and the creatives were “figuring out” Deadpool’s future in Marvel films.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Notably, the film’s first trailer was recently released, playing before Avatar: Fire and Ash. The trailer confirmed the appearance of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers in the film.
Anthony and Joe Russo directed the film from Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely’s screenplay.
Its cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and Robert Downey Jr., among many other Marvel actors.
