You literally pulled us out of a hole and we cannot thank you enough personally, for this is not an, this is not an easy. I know there are a lot harder jobs, but this is not an easy job to do.”
Kimmel admitted that hosting the show is not easy, saying constant negativity in the world can feel overwhelming. He added that messages from fans who say the show helps them feel less alone give him comfort and strength.
He ended by reminding fans that there is still “more good in this country than bad” and wished everyone a happy holiday. Kimmel’s emotional monologue appeared to stem from an incident earlier in the year when he faced controversy over comments on late Charlie Kirk on his show.
