FIFA is coming back to Netflix, but in a new way. Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the governing body has teamed up with Netflix Games. They have brought a small studio called Delphi Interactive on board. They will make a fresh football game that you can play through the Netflix app. The developers designed it to be simple to pick up, fun to play, and free for subscribers.
FIFA and Netflix are collaborating on this new project
Netflix says it is building a new FIFA game that anyone can enjoy. Users can play on their phones or on smart TVs using the phone as the controller. “The FIFA World Cup is going to be the cultural event of 2026, and now fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by bringing the game right into their living rooms,” said Alain Tascan, President of Games at Netflix. They added, “We want to bring football back to its roots with something everyone can play with just the touch of a button.”
FIFA’s boss also welcomed the plan. “FIFA is very excited to team up with Netflix Games and Delphi Interactive ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Gianni Infantino. He called the project “the beginning of a new era of digital football.” They said the game will be free to Netflix members.
Delphi Interactive, the studio making the game, said that they want the new FIFA to be friendly for all players. “As lifelong FIFA fans, we’re honored to help usher in the bold next generation and reimagine the future of the franchise,” said Casper Daugaard, Delphi’s CEO.
“Make the FIFA game the most fun, approachable, and global football game ever created.” Andy Kleinman, Delphi’s president, added that the team hopes “anyone, anywhere, can pick up and instantly feel the magic of football.”
However, some fans are unsure. One user wrote, “FIFA should never have left EA.” Others are curious to see what a Netflix-made, phone-first FIFA will feel like.
