The NFL match between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas night is scheduled to feature a halftime show performance by Snoop Dogg. The 54-year-old rapper will headline the halftime show during the game, being billed as “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party.” It will be a part of Netflix’s inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday streaming event.
Snoop Dogg will perform at Lions vs. Vikings game
Netflix recently released a promo for the “Vato” singer’s upcoming performance at the Lions vs. Vikings game a few days ago.
The clip, shared on X (formerly Twitter), features the noted funk musician George Clinton’s voiceover with a small cameo from Snoop Dogg. He says, “We’re about to light up this Christmas, in a real way. Come on in.”
Taking out a tray of NFL-themed cookies from the oven, Dogg then asks, “How’s that for a halftime snack?” In the backdrop, Clinton sang, “Bow wow wow, yippie yo yippie yay,” an iconic line from his 1982 hit, “Atomic Dog.”
The 17-time Grammy nominee is a household name in the hip-hop world, known for his signature slow-flowing lyrics and tight bars in various time signatures. Hence, it is quite apparent why Netflix chose him to headline the halftime show of their NFL match broadcast on Christmas.
The streaming giant also revealed that Dogg will perform many of his famous hits, along with guest appearances from other noted celebrities. Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson will be performing before the kickoff of the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders match the same day.
Recently, Snoop Dogg also provided his two cents about his upcoming performance at halftime of the Lions vs. Vikings match at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. “NFL, Netflix, and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day?” the legendary rapper told Tudum. “We’re servin’ up music, love, and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy. That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag.”
Notably, Dogg has several Christmas-themed numbers in his bag, such as “Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto” and his Christmas in Tha Dogghouse album. Hence, it wouldn’t be wrong to expect that the NFL halftime show will be an enthralling one.
