OnlyFans star Sophie Rain revealed that she had completely forgotten that Elon Musk had renamed Twitter to X, a move that originally garnered immense backlash. Rain seemingly continued calling the platform Twitter, where she is quite active and posts regularly. Here’s what the OnlyFans star said.
Sophie Rain says she forgot Twitter was renamed
Sophie Rain, whose posts regularly go viral on the social media platform X, revealed that she forgot that the name of the app had changed. The move came after Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO and the wealthiest person on the planet, bought Twitter and rebranded it as X. Many continue to use the old name of the app despite the change coming over two years ago.
Rain, one of the most popular internet personalities, seemingly had the same problem. She continued to call the platform Twitter even after the name change. In a very recent post, Rain posted a photo of herself and wrote in the caption, “Hey, Twitter.” This tweet was from hours ago.
She reshared the post a while later and wrote, “Forgot they renamed this app” with a crying emoji. This post got many reactions from her fans.
“@elonmusk will never forgive you,” one user joked about this. “It’s ok. I still call it Twittah. Shoutout Boston,” another user wrote. “still calling it Twitter outta muscle memory. ‘x’ sounds like a failed rebrand we all agreed to ignore,” yet another fan added. It seems that Rain is not alone in this habit of calling X by its former name.
Elon Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter in October 2022. He also served as the CEO of the platform until June 2023, when he was succeeded by Linda Yaccarino. In July 2023, Musk decided to rebrand the platform as X. In May 2024, the domain name was also changed from twitter.com to x.com.
The name change faced significant controversy. The platform has also faced much controversy since the rebranding.
