J Balvin opens up about almost having a heart attack

J Balvin talks about his intense seven-hour concert, which jeopardised his health and almost gave him a heart attack. He revealed to Ibai, “Normally, we go through moments as artists where you want to do concerts for your ego, but in this case, I focused on giving the people a show” (translation via Complex).

Ryan Castro and Maluma were there to show their love and support to the “Loco Contigo” hitmaker. However, at one crucial juncture, he nearly stopped his performance. The Latin reggaeton artist said, “At one point [of] the concert, I started to feel like I couldn’t see anymore. I mean, you’re in the middle of a 360-stage, and I was only seeing everything as black, and I was talking through the intercom.”

Continuing further, Balvin explained, “The people outside can’t hear you, but your work team can hear you. So I was like, ‘Hey, I’m getting dizzy. I can’t see. I’m pale.’” He recalled a moment when he was singing and suddenly put his hand on his face. The “Mi Gente” hitmaker realized he was on the verge of having a heart attack.

The Colombian singer shared, “So, when Yandel came on [stage], I came off. The doctor took my pulse, it was 190 beats per minute, I mean, I was on the verge of a heart attack.”

The “Ginza” crooner recollected his mother’s “emotional reaction” and how she begged him to stop the concert right away. After the health scare, Balvin ate six frozen desserts, which gave him a sugar rush and caused an insulin spike. On a parting note, Balvin reminisced, “I still can’t get over it, to be honest.”

Elsewhere in the interview, J Balvin revealed he’s “happy” that Bad Bunny is headlining the prestigious 2025 Super Bowl next year. He said, “Now I’m not focused on being No. 1. I mean, now I’m happy with what’s happening with Benito (his real name)” (translation via Complex).
