During their Actors on Actors appearance, Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio sat down together for an intimate one-on-one conversation. As they began discussing their latest projects—DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another and Lawrence’s Die My Love— the Wolf of Wall Street actor said, “A lot of the tension for me was that baby,” referring to Lawrence’s character, Grace’s child in the film.

“You think of the tension in a film like this, you’re like, okay, what’s gonna happen to this child? Because she (Grace) is unraveled, and capable of anything. That’s what got me on edge.” he added.

Lawrence then remarked, “I really loved seeing you be a dad in One Battle After Another. I’m so sad that you don’t have a teenage daughter. You look great with one” (via Variety). Both seemed to chuckle nervously after this comment from Lawrence.

The Silver Linings Playbook actress then also explained a slight change in the movie compared to the Die, My Love book by Ariana Harwicz, on which the film is based. “The child in our movie is not well taken care of,” she shared.

“And Rob and I are both parents in real life. Rob had a newborn, and we just could not play characters like that.,” Lawrence added. She then went on to explain how when people talk about postpartum, their general understanding of it is “very simplistic.” DiCaprio then mentioned Teyana Taylor’s character in One Battle After Another, who saw a similar struggle with the complexities of motherhood.
