Seven-time Super Bowl champion and retired NFL icon, Tom Brady, recently teased that a team reached out to him after his second retirement. He didn’t spill which team it was, but the tease sent social media into a frenzy. Fans tried to guess which team tried to lure the legendary QB out of his second retirement. Brady confirmed that the call happened but stressed he was “done, done” at the time.
Fans try to guess the team that tried to sign Tom Brady post-retirement
When asked by a reporter about any post-retirement interest from NFL teams, Brady acknowledged that a team had indeed contacted him but declined to reveal which one. “Yes, when I retired the second time, there was a team that reached out. But I’m not going to tell you who. I’m going to leave you guys guessing on that. But it was actually a little bit intriguing. But at that time, I was pretty certain that I was done, done,” he said.
Fans immediately flooded social media with theories. Some suggested the San Francisco 49ers, arguing Brady had admired their system and that they had shown interest in a quarterback after their Super Bowl loss with Brock Purdy. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and even the Chicago Bears were also mentioned multiple times.
Social media reactions ranged from excitement to humor. The reactions also included guesses like “49ers 10000%, they’ve been dreaming about him”. Another fan said, “Vikings reached out to sign Tom Brady in 2023 after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles.” Others joked about the constant spotlight on Brady, with one fan posting, “Can this dude get out of the spotlight for 5 minutes and not be the center of attention?”
Even with fans dying to see him back on the field, a Brady comeback looks pretty unlikely. He’s made it clear multiple times that he’s committed to retirement. Not to mention, his minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders would complicate any return.
