During a fun and lively chat for Variety, Jennifer Lawrence brought up the sizzling chemistry between Leonardo DiCaprio and his One Battle After Another co-star Benicio del Toro. Praising their on-screen connection, she playfully asked DiCaprio if he and del Toro had “ever kissed,” making both of them laugh. DiCaprio chuckled at the question, taking the moment to reflect on del Toro’s talent and presence rather than any romantic spark.
DiCaprio shared that del Toro’s involvement had a huge impact on the film, noting that production even paused for three months until he could join. He explained that del Toro was busy filming The Phoenician Scheme. However, he came in fully prepared, having an in-depth understanding of his character.
“He was actually doing The Phoenician Scheme, and we waited for him. Shut down production for three months, and then he was like, “I’m not prepared for this.” But he came in and knew exactly who his character was, and we changed the whole movie when he arrived. All the stuff we did on the road together was because Benicio was like, “This is who Sensei is.”
The banter came during a promotion of their latest projects. DiCaprio was promoting One Battle After Another. Meanwhile, Lawrence talked about her intense lead role in Die My Love, a film tackling postpartum depression.
