After veteran filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead in their Los Angeles home, reports reveal that Nick Reiner, their 32-year-old son, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The deceased couple’s daughter found their bodies on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

The 32-year-old son of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner has reportedly been arrested shortly after The Princess Bride director and his wife were found dead in their Los Angeles home.
The couple’s 28-year-old daughter, Romy, allegedly found her parents in their home with multiple stab wounds on Sunday. While there has been little information about the couple’s deaths, police are still investigating the tragic incident (via BBC).
Moreover, reports indicate that Nick Reiner is being held without bail at the moment. The case is expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on December 16, 2025. It will then be decided whether they will file charges.
Reports further reveal that emergency services were called to provide medical aid at the Reiners’ home at 15:38 local time on Sunday. The Los Angeles Fire Department revealed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene. They were later identified as 78-year-old Rob and 68-year-old Michele Reiner. Meanwhile, Nick was taken into custody on suspicion of murder at 21:15 local time.
Rob Reiner initially began his career as an actor in the 1960s. He rose to prominence for his role in the TV sitcom All in the Family. Reiner later started directing and delivered hits like Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap, and When Harry Met Sally…, all of which remain prominent even now.
Notably, Nick Reiner has spoken previously about his struggles with addiction and homelessness. His experiences served as the basis of his father’s film, Being Charlie. Furthermore, sources claimed to CBS News that the father-son duo was allegedly spotted in an argument the night before the tragic incident.
