Rob Reiner and Anthony Geary, two legendary actors, died on the same day. But they shared more than just the same date of death. Geary and Reiner also shared the screen, albeit briefly, back in 1971, where they appeared together in an All in the Family episode. Their shared screen time has remained immortalized despite Reiner and Geary later taking separate career paths.

Rob Reiner was found dead alongside his wife, Michelle, in their Brentwood home on Sunday, December 14, 2025. On the same day, Anthony Geary, a veteran television star, also passed away, reportedly due to complications following a surgical procedure. Both men were 78 years old.
Interestingly, while the two followed very different career paths, they did share the screen once. Reiner and Geary appeared together in an episode of All in the Family back in 1971. Titled Judging Books by Covers, it was the fifth episode of the long-running sitcom, which later became a major cultural phenomenon.
Reiner played his regular role as Michael Stivic, a character he portrayed for eight of the show’s nine seasons. For Geary, however, the appearance was brief. The Daytime television veteran appeared in a single half-hour episode and did not return to the series.
Geary went on to enjoy a successful career in Daytime television, becoming widely known for his portrayal of Luke Spencer on General Hospital. He won eight Daytime Emmy Awards for the role and remains a revered figure within the Daytime soap community.
Reiner, meanwhile, went on to also become a director in Hollywood. He delivered hits like This Is Spinal Tap (1984), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Misery (1990), and A Few Good Men (1992), among many others. He was also nominated for the Academy Award.
The police are investigating Reiner’s and his wife, Michelle’s, deaths.
