Rob Reiner, known both for his comedic acting and his direction, was found dead in his Brentwood home on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The veteran director has delivered gems like This Is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, and “When Harry Met Sally…, among many others. He was 78 years old. Authorities also found his wife, Michelle, dead alongside him.
Many A-list celebrities came forward to pay tribute to the legendary director.
“Rob is one of my heroes. I had the honor of calling him a friend,” fellow Hollywood director Paul Feig wrote after the news of Reiner’s passing. “I can’t handle the truth that one of the greatest filmmakers to ever live is gone. We lost one of the few good men. RIP, Rob Reiner,” wrote Joe Russo, known for his work in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
“Horrified to hear of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife Michelle. So much love to their kids and family,” Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood shared, while I am horrified and saddened at the tragic loss of one cinema’s greatest directors. I can’t even begin to list the films this guy made that impacted me throughout my life. We all know them. A legend. A true genius. Rest in peace, Rob Reiner,” wrote composer Bear McCreary.
Veteran actor Kevin Bacon shared a video from his official Instagram handle, where he talked about Rob and Michelle’s death. “Today is a sad one. Thank you for everything, Rob. May you and Michele rest in peace,” he wrote in the caption of the video.
Many others, including Nancy Pelosi, Virginia Madsen, Richard Roeper, and O’Shea Jackson Jr., posted on their social media accounts paying tribute to a true Hollywood legend.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating Rob Reiner’s death.
