Jerry Seinfeld pays heartfelt tribute to Rob Reiner after death

Jerry Seinfeld has shared an emotional tribute to Rob Reiner. This follows the news of the deaths of the acclaimed filmmaker and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. In a public statement shared this week, Seinfeld emphasized Reiner’s important role in shaping the early fate of Seinfeld.

Seinfeld wrote, “Next to Larry David and George Shapiro, Rob Reiner had the biggest influence on my career.” He added that the sitcom “would have never happened without him,” noting that Reiner stepped in when network executives were not convinced by the show’s initial episodes. The comedian wrote, “He saw something no one else could. When nobody at the network liked the early episodes, he saved us from cancellation.”

Beyond his professional impact, Jerry Seinfeld also reflected on Reiner’s personal character and generosity. He wrote, “That I was working with Carl Reiner’s son, who happened to be one of the kindest people in show business, seemed unreal.” In his post, the actor also honored Reiner’s marriage to Michele Singer Reiner. “Rob and Michele married right as our show was starting and they became an imprint for me of how it’s supposed to work, each one broadening the other,” Seinfeld added. He concluded with, “Their death, together, is impossibly sad.”

Reiner’s involvement with Seinfeld came through Castle Rock Entertainment, the production company he co-founded, which produced the series throughout its nine-season run from 1989 to 1998. The show went on to become one of the most influential sitcoms in television history. The series starred Jerry Seinfeld alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, Jerry Stiller, and Wayne Knight.
