Get Out Star Replaces Jonathan Majors To Play NBA Legend in New Movie

LaKeith Stanfield is reportedly set to replace Jonathan Majors to play Dennis Rodman in Lionsgate’s upcoming project, 48 Hours in Vegas. The plot will seemingly focus on Rodman’s crazy road trip to Vegas amid the famous 1988 Chicago Bulls championship run against the Utah Jazz. At the time, the former NFL legend asked his coach for a 48‑hour break and took a trip to Vegas. This led Michael Jordan to fly there and bring him back.

LaKeith Stanfield cast in 48 Hours in Vegas to replace Jonathan Majors

As per multiple reports, the Play Dirty star will replace Jonathan Majors for the role of Dennis Rodman for the upcoming Lionsgate project 48 Hours in Vegas.

This comes almost two years after Majors was removed following his assault and harassment conviction after an incident involving his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari. The actor received a 52-week n-person domestic violence intervention program sentence. He gained recognition for playing Kang: The Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp and Loki. Consequently, Disney and Marvel also dropped Majors after the incident.

President of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Erin Westerman spoke about the casting of LaKeith Stanfield in a statement. “Dennis Rodman is more than a basketball player, more than a personality — he’s an entire cultural phenomenon,” he said. “His bold style and physical presence, combined with an iconic persona, created a larger-than-life impact on and off the court. There’ll never be another like him. LaKeith and the incredibly talented team on this film will bring the legend to life in this most extraordinarily unbelievable story (via The Hollywood Reporter).”

Rick Famuyiwa will direct 48 Hours in Vegas, with Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood being the producers. Additionally, Ari Lubet, Dennis Rodman, and Lucy Kitada will serve as executive producers.

LaKeith Stanfield’s casting was first reported by The InSneider. Notably, he previously appeared in Atlanta, Get Out, Haunted Mansion, The Book of Clarence, and Roofman. Stanfield also received an Academy Award nomination for his role as Bill O’Neal in Judas and the Black Messiah.
