John Cena officially rang the final bell on his WWE in-ring run Saturday night, and the wrestling world responded with an outpouring of emotion and respect. Before and after his last showdown with Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in D.C., love poured in from every corner.
Legends, WWE bosses, and even big sports brands showed up online to salute him. After 23 years of body slams, catchphrases, and sold-out arenas, Cena walked away as an icon who helped define an entire era of pro wrestling.
Dwayne Johnson and more paid tribute to John Cena
As John Cena geared up to step into a WWE ring one final time, wrestling royalty showed him love and respect. The Undertaker shared a heartfelt message, flashing back to their very first run-in on WWE SmackDown, over 20 years ago.
“Nice job. Hustle, loyalty, and respect is more than just catch phrases. For 23 years, you have lived by those words… To have shared the ring with you and have been a part of your journey has been an honor,” Undertaker wrote, ending with, “Enjoy the last ride tonight, my friend, and one final time…nice job.”
Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, also shared a heartfelt post, writing, “John, you epitomize one of my favorite quotes,”it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. Congratulations on your historic and extraordinary career. Have fun, tear it down, and as always, “thank you for the house”.
Triple H also tipped his hat to the 17x world champion. “So many incredible in-ring moments over the last 20+ years…let’s make the final one tonight! #ThankYouCena,” he posted.
Shawn Michaels also joined in on the love, giving John Cena a heartfelt shoutout for always backing WWE’s next generation. Kurt Angle, who actually faced Cena in the latter’s very first WWE match, offered one of the most meaningful tributes.
Angle reflected on Cena’s journey from a loud, confident rookie to a worldwide superstar, praising both his legendary in-ring moments and his impact outside the ring. Angle wished him nothing but success as he steps into the next chapter of his life, calling Cena’s legacy truly unforgettable.
