21 Savage Reveals He Advised Drake Not To Beef With Kendrick Lamar

21 Savage recently spoke out about the infamous beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The British rapper, whose album, What Happened to the Streets?, arrived on Friday, said that he advised Drake against the feud, claiming that he would lose even if he wins.

21 Savage recently appeared on Big Bank, where he discussed a lot of things over a generous three-hour interview. He touched upon the subject of Drake’s issues with Metro Boomin, but speculated that the two will collaborate in the future.

However, the conversation soon turned to one of the biggest beefs of recent years: the Drake–Kendrick Lamar feud. 21 Savage said that this battle was a lost one for Drake from the beginning, and he had advised the Canadian rapper-singer against the beef.

“Do I think he took a hit? Nah,” 21 Savage said. “He’s still the number one streamed n***a this year. I feel like he took an internet hit. But then it be like, damn, did you take an internet hit? Because streaming, you gotta go on the internet to stream. … I feel like to certain people, they might say he took a hit.”

He went on to detail a phone call exchange between himself and Drake. “He called me one of them days, or I called him,” he said. “I think this was after the first song, the song with Metro and them, and I said, ‘You finna go into a battle that you can’t win, like, there’s no way you can win.’ No matter what, bruh. Certain situations, even if you win, you still don’t win.”

Clarifying that he wasn’t implying Drake lost the feud, the 33-year-old said, “How can you win a battle if n***as want you to lose it.” He added, “Even if you win, you lose. No matter what. Even if Kendrick never responded, man. If Drake just dropped songs and Kendrick never responded or nothing, he still don’t win because his position didn’t change.”

21 Savage further added that the feud was rigged, not by Kendrick but by the general public. “Even if Drake won, he would have been the bad guy for winning,” he concluded.
