Meghan Markle’s Letter to Dad More Like ‘Press Release’ — Source

Meghan Markle has written a new letter to her father, Thomas Markle, but royal insiders say she sent it fully aware that its contents could eventually become public. According to sources close to the Duchess of Sussex, the decision wasn’t made lightly. One insider says Meghan “agonized over every single line” before sending the message, knowing her father has shared private communications with the press in the past.

Meghan Markle ‘knew there was a risk’ in sending letter to dad Thomas Markle, per source

“She knew there was a risk,” the source revealed. “She walked on eggshells with him. She loves him, but she simply cannot trust him.” Another source described the letter as both “warm” and “heartfelt,” but highlighted that Meghan crafted it with precision. “Let’s be honest — it reads more like a press release than a private letter,” the insider explained.

Meghan’s spokesperson confirmed that she wrote to her father and that he now has the letter. However, insiders say she does not plan to call or visit him. Sources close to the Duchess say the entire situation is “heartbreaking” for her. The long-documented strain between Meghan and her father continues, and insiders say she felt significant emotional weight when deciding to communicate again. “She wanted connection, but the past has made her cautious,” a source shared. “There’s love there, but also fear. It’s one of the most difficult things she’s had to navigate emotionally.”

Meghan reportedly tried to reach out to her father during his recent health crisis, but strained trust, past issues, and constant public attention have made private communication difficult. Kinsey Schofield, host of Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, told Fox News Digital that Meghan has spent much of 2025 promoting a polished, “family-oriented” image. She added, however, that Meghan’s lack of direct contact with her father, especially after his amputation, makes that message harder to maintain.
