After the New York Giants’ Monday loss against the New England Patriots, Jaxson Dart defended his playing style, drawing inspiration from Patrick Mahomes. During the post-game press conference, Dart explained why he is sticking to his style of playing and how it works for him and the team. He defended his unyielding style of play, despite only recently recovering from a concussion.

During a post-game press conference, when questioned about continuously taking hits with his style of play, the Giants quarterback responded, saying, “This is football. I’m going to get hit if I’m in the pocket or outside the pocket. I feel like I played this way my whole entire life. This shouldn’t be like any shocker to anybody if you’ve followed along with my career.”
“We’re not playing soccer out here. You’re going to get hit. Things happen. It’s just part of the game,” he added. After their loss on Monday, the Giants stand at a record of 2-11 this season, with a 7-game losing streak. Later on, as he answered a few media questions in the locker room, Dart responded to a question about there being a “fine line” between “taking care” of himself and “getting that extra yard.”
“There’s a time and place for things,” Dart explained. “I watch quarterbacks who play kind of like me around the league. I watched how Josh Allen plays. I watch how Patrick Mahomes plays. They take hits, too, so I’m not an anomaly here,” he added.
Dart suffered a concussion during the New York Giants’ November 9 loss to the Chicago Bears. He stayed out for two weeks, before returning to the field on Monday, Dec. 2 for the game against the New England Patriots held at Gillette Stadium. As he took another couple of hits during this game, it sparked questions about whether his physical style was sustainable after the two‑week break.
