Outlander Season 8 Star Teases Massive Details About Final Episodes

Sophie Skelton, who portrays Brianna “Bree” Fraser MacKenzie in the Starz historical fantasy series Outlander, recently revealed some important details about the ending of the hit TV show. Outlander premiered on August 9, 2014. In January 2023, Starz greenlit Season 8 of the series, which is also slated to be its final chapter.

Sophie Skelton says multiple endings have been filmed for final season of Outlander

Sophie Skelton made an appearance at this year’s Gotham Awards and disclosed that the production team has filmed multiple versions of the ending of Outlander. When asked about what to expect in the eighth and final season, Skelton said, “Honestly, trying to give no spoilers on that show is incredibly hard. We actually filmed a few different endings just so it’s kind of a surprise for everyone.” (via Entertainment Tonight)

The actress continued about the end of filming, adding, “We finished filming a bit ago now. So it was just exciting to close off that chapter and celebrate it with the fans. We’re just sorry it has been a bit of a wait.”

Ronald D. Moore developed Outlander based on the series of books of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. Skelton joined the cast of the show in Season 2. The series’ cast also includes Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser, Sam Heughan as James “Jamie” Fraser, Caitlin O’Ryan as Lizzie Wemyss, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, and Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom.

During the above-mentioned interview, Skelton reflected on whether it had been hard to say goodbye to the series. “It was so bittersweet,” she said, before noting that she was considerably younger when she started on Outlander. “It was really weird saying goodbye to the character for the last time,” she added.

Outlander Season 8 debuts on Starz on March 6, 2026.
