The upcoming Jumanji sequel has finally begun filming, and it seems that Dwayne Johnson, the star of the film, is paying a heartfelt tribute to Robin Williams, the original star of Jumanji, in the new movie. The series rebooted with Johnson in the lead in 2017. And now, Johnson is paying his respects to the original star through an Easter Egg that not many Jumanji fans would miss.

A day before this, Johnson took to his Instagram to share a video from Universal Studios backlot as he made his way to the set. He was wearing the necklace in this video as well, and also commented on it in the video.
“A little day one of Jumanji excitement,” Johnson said in the video, “So good to be shooting in Los Angeles. I have not shot a film in Los Angeles in…I don’t know when, so it feels so good to bring a production back home to Los Angeles.” He went on to reveal about the necklace. “This is the dice from the original Jumanji with Robin Williams as a show of respect and a way of honoring Robin and this entire franchise that he started as we film our very last Jumanji,” Johnson revealed.
Fans reacted positively to this little Easter egg, especially for the emotional appeal of the reference.
The upcoming, yet untitled Jumanji film is set to premiere in December 2026.
