Donald Trump recently took a jab at Tom Cruise. In his recent speech at McDonald’s Impact Summit, the US president mockingly highlighted the Hollywood veteran’s height while complimenting pilots who bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities in June. Cruise’s height has been widely discussed and reported on, although the actor himself has barely addressed it.

Donald Trump recently gave a speech at the McDonald’s Impact Summit, where he delivered remarks on several topics. In his speech, he complimented the B-2 bombers who bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, calling them “gorgeous.” He further praised the pilots, whose work he witnessed in the Situation Room, and recalled wondering if people wanted to do what they did for a living.
Trump then recalled honoring the pilots by inviting them into the White House alongside mechanics and other personnel. He noticed that the pilots were “handsome” after calling them to the Oval Office.
The president remarked that the pilots resembled Tom Cruise. “They really do. I don’t want to be a wise guy and say ‘but taller,'” he added. “I’m not gonna say that.”
He continued by calling the pilots “perfect specimens” and saying that they looked like people from a movie. “I could take every one of them and put them in a movie,” he stated. One of the pilots was a woman, which Trump did not mention.
Tom Cruise is widely reported to be 5’7. The actor has not frequently discussed his height in interviews. However, he once opened up about it in an Empire interview, where he admitted he was “sensitive” to discussions about his suitability for the role of Jack Reacher, who is 6’5″, in the 2012 film of the same name (via E! News).
A few months earlier, WWD reported that Cruise wore height-boosting shoes at the F1 premiere. The outlet suggested that he previously used the footwear trick at the Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning premiere at Cannes.
Trump’s comments about Cruise’s height come shortly after the latter received his first Oscar at the Governors Awards.
