Jeff Ross has shared an encouraging update on the next big roast following the success of Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady in 2024. He says he wants it to be the “Super Bowl of roasting,” and revealed that he’s already putting together a “list of all the celebrities” that could make for a good show.
Jeff Ross teases another Netflix roast after Tom Brady
During a Variety-moderated panel at the New York Comedy Festival, Jeff Ross shared an update on when the next Netflix roast could happen.
“I want it to be like the Super Bowl of roasting,” Ross expressed. “We have another festival coming up in May, and I’m pretty confident we’ll have a roast in the spring.” He added that he doesn’t want the audience to wear out with too many roasts.
Ross shared that making The Roast of Tom Brady happen was no easy task. “Tom Brady, I held onto for three years. He retired, unretired, got divorced, then we decided to do it at the Netflix festival.” He described it, “To get a whale sometimes takes a while.”
However, he revealed that his partner, Casey Patterson, is sharing “lists of all the celebrities” for the next show. Looking at the list, Ross admitted to being surprised by “how many people want to do it.”
Nonetheless, the Historical Roasts star has a clear vision. “I want it to feel like the Olympics — every year or two there’s a gigantic roast,” he expressed.
Ross also reflected on how roasts were once considered to be a “second-class citizen of TV.” He added, “Now we got nominated for an Emmy next to the Oscars, the Grammys, the Tonys, and the Super Bowl Halftime Show. It’s become a cultural moment.”
The Roast of Tom Brady, officially titled “GROAT: The Greatest Roast of All Time,” was a live comedy event that Netflix aired in 2024 as part of the “Netflix Is a Joke” festival. Kevin Hart hosted the show. During the event, several comedians and athletes took turns to roast the former American football quarterback.
