Justin Trudeau’s Ex Talks Navigating Katy Perry Romance

With Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry‘s romance heating up, his ex, estranged wife Sophie Gregoire, finally broke her silence. Gregoire recently addressed the former Canadian Prime Minister’s blossoming relationship with the pop star on the “Arlene Is Alone” podcast, weeks after their first public appearance. The mom of three got candid about how it’s “normal” for Trudeau and Perry’s dating life to affect her and revealed how she navigates through it.

Justin Trudeau’s ex Sophie Grégoire says she tries to ‘listen to the music instead of the noise’

Justin Trudeau’s estranged wife, Sophie Gregoire, didn’t shy away from addressing his romance with Katy Perry on the “Arlene Is Alone” podcast. While talking about their dynamics as a family since their separation, Gregoire answered Arlene Dickinson’s question about how she has been coping with the politician’s very public dating life with the singer. “We’re human beings, and stuff affects us,” she told the host before describing it as a completely “normal” way to react.

The retired Canadian TV host continued that the reaction to the publicity is her decision, and she chooses to “try to listen to the music instead of the noise.” She then mentioned already knowing that “a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers” because we are only “humans.” Nonetheless, the mother of three made it clear that she gets to decide what she does with it. “The woman I want to become through this is my decision,” she claimed.

Justin Trudeau’s ex further admitted that her reaction to his Katy Perry romance doesn’t necessarily mean she is emotionless. Describing herself as a “super tender heart,” she implied feeling a range of emotions, but exclaimed that how she chose to react was her decision entirely. Gregoire admitted that she lets herself “feel,” “be disappointed by someone,” “be angry,” and “be sad,” acknowledging the importance of feeling those emotions.

Trudeau and his now-estranged wife, with whom he shares three kids, announced their separation in August 2023.
